"...the US Department Of Commerce has reported that 1 in 10 infotech jobs lacks a warm geek."
"High Tech Embraces Offshore Employees", Wired, March 1998
What is your title?
eMarketing Manager. Like it? I made it up after going without one for many years. People can't seem to function if you don't have a title even though I think the only thing a title does is pigeon hole you in people's minds on what you can/can't do.
What do you do?
I'm the social media guy for a handful of properties and brands. I'm also the web guy, the copier/fax guy, Mac support and so on. Get the picture? I'm a fireman, a jack-of-all-trades and will do pretty much anything I'm asked.
Have you developed any business philosophies over the years?
A time clock is redundant.
How you dress is irrelevant, other than underwear.
Office space should be based on need, not ego.
Reserved parking spaces promote out-of-shape management types.
Motivation and aptitude are worth more than any degree.
Benefits are not a retirement fund and health insurance. Those are necessities.
